Description

After six years in the idyllic Loire Valley, comedian Ian Moore, his family and his ever-expanding menagerie are beginning to feel like they're on the cusp of the peace and tranquillity they hoped for when they moved from dreary Crawley to la belle France. Their grand project, a writing school called Les Champs Cr#65533;atifs, is finally complete - only,
nobody's signed up.

Natalie and the boys must contend with the ever-colourful locals, including a Sicilian faith healer, threatening hunters and the 'Christmas Pudding Man', and Ian must test his mod mettle against two new additions to the animal family - a pair of disappearing goats. With stresses, strains and animal poo mounting up la famille Moore have their work cut out - but they're determined to give it their best shot!

Reviews

'A delicious second helping of muck, mods and mayhem in rural France.' -- Julia Stagg, Author 'So well written and funny you feel you're there flailing with him in the chicken coop. Warm, tender and incredibly funny. Treads that perfect balance between thigh-slappingly hilarious and heartbreakingly human: a unique and wonderful book.' -- Isy Suttie, Actress 'Rural France is no place for a mod. Globe-trotting comedian Ian Moore knows this better than anyone. But still, he battles it out with locals, animals, his family and low budget airlines, as he commutes to gigs back in Britain and around the world. Is this living the dream? And if so, what sort of depraved mind dreamt this up? As a fellow Frenglish commuter, so much of this joyous, wry story rang true. C'est Modnifique is a riot in the style of A Year in the Merde, but funnier and with more animals. I mean, who thought the goats were a good idea?' -- Lucy Inglis, Writer and Broadcaster 'This book made me want to dress better. And get some chickens. Truly inspirational.' -- Kitty Flanagan, Comedian 'Ian Moore is a brilliant comedian whose wit is as sharp as his dress sense and he has managed to take that on stage story telling brilliance and put it in his writing. A great read - even if your French!' -- John Bishop, Comedian and Broadcaster 'Sharp, funny, warm and witty. If Ian Moore writes this well in France, he should never be let back into the UK.' -- Danny Wallace, Writer and Broadcaster 'What a strange and wonderful sight Ian Moore must present in the Loire Valley - an English Mod kicking around rural France with a young family, a few goats and big dreams of the good life. His brilliant book is warm, funny and big-hearted - easily the best Englishman-abroad memoir since Gerald Durrell was in short trousers and knocking around pre-war Corfu.' -- Tony Parsons, Author and Columnist 'Funny, charmingly grumpy. I loved this expat take on the ups and downs of life in rural France. Magnifique.' -- Ben Hatch, Author 'A 21st Century Tony Hancock.' -- Dean Kelland, Artist 'If David Niven were a Mod...' -- Gerrard G. Gerrard, Author
