Written mostly by members of The Salvation Army, it covers the support the Army gave both at home in New Zealand and with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force overseas. As a former soldier, its most vivid chapters for me are those of the chaplains who were attached to the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. These men were dedicated, yet human, as is the Army in which they serve, but in their hearts intent on serving humanity.
