The story about Rusty to the Rescue came about from a conversation between two adults that I overheard as a child. They were saying that two yachts had capsized during a yacht race the Howick Yacht Club was holding and that they were stranded on Flat Island (as the locals called it). A local dignitary, Keith Hay, was asked if he could launch one of his boats to rescue them as the Howick Rescue Boat couldn't be launched because the tide was too far out. That's where Rusty and the Finn boys came to the rescue.
